Mio Product Range

Just two months ago, between May 30th and June 3rd, Taipei (Taiwan) hosted Computex 2017, which is considered by some to be the biggest convention of the year for tech industries revolving around laptops, desktops, and touch screens and associated components. Among the big-name brands represented at Computex 2017 was Mio, an offshoot of the MiTAC International Corp, and this year they had an impressive range of products to showcase.

During the show, Mio focused on products that fell within four overarching categories: (1) health and wellness, (2) professional tablet, (3) home, and (4) fleet and auto. Some of the specific products on display included the MioCARE™ series (for healthcare) and MioWORK™ (logistics) series, as well as a selection of in-vehicle electronic devices, Smart Home product solutions, and upgraded professional tablets for the retail, medical, and fleet management environments.

Let’s take a closer look at Mio’s considerable contributions to the tech industry….

Health and Wellness

Mio is a prominent name in the medical healthcare industry, having innovated the MioCARE™ series of medical grade tablets. At Computex 2017, the company unveiled the Mio’s MiCor™ A100; what it calls “the world’s first wearable ECG event recorder to be given TFDA and CE approval.”

The MiCor™ A100 was exhaustively tested at England’s Leeds Hospital and was found to perform on par with traditional Holter monitors, with only minor BPM measurement variations. When worn by the patient, this product enables the individual to record ECG data anytime and anywhere, with one simple click. This avoids the need for costly and time-consuming in-person examinations by a cardiologist, cardio technician, or other specialist.

In addition to saving time and money, the MiCor™ A100 also reduces the patient’s risk of having a serious cardiovascular event. This smart monitor is designed to pick up on irregular heartbeats, recording any anomalies or significant events and sending it directly to the doctor who can then diagnose, advise, and treat the patient accordingly.

Professional Tablets

Mio’s extensive range of professional tablets caters to the unique demands of the field service, fleet management, medical, and retail industries. These rugged, professional grade touch screen tablets have an IP67 rating (resistant to both dust and water infiltration) and are coated with polycarbonate, which makes them easy to clean and disinfect (important for healthcare applications). They have been tested for 1.2-meter drop resistance, making them a tough, durable solution for a wide scope of field applications. Mio’s range of professional tablets also integrate 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® 4.0, and NFC.

Of specific interest at Computex 2017 was the new MioWORK™ F700 series, which goes a step further than their range of professional-grade tablet’s usual specifications. Designed for the most punishing and demanding of retail and field applications, the MioWORK™ F700 features Android 6.0, driver identification, 1.2-meter drop resistance, a quick-release vehicle cradle for easy, reliable mounting, and improved vehicle cable management. These touch screen tablets also comes equipped for free APIs, providing users with a comprehensive software and hardware solution.

Home Security

Mio has also made considerable contributions to the home with its intelligent security systems. The MioSMART™ series consists of a variety of surveillance and home security systems, including door/windows sensors, motion sensors, IP cameras, a smart home hub, and a personal cloud service. Together, the MioSMART™ components deliver a sophisticated total security solution for the home, integrating an IoT device, cloud platform, and smartphone app. This enables users to monitor and protect their home or any place where security is a priority.

In addition to real-time video surveillance, the IP CAM from MioSMART™ provides three different types of recording storage: (1) on your personal device, such as a tablet or smartphone, (2) on the cloud platform, and (3) internally, on a MicroSD card. All recorded data can be saved for future review and even shared with friends and family.

Fleet and Auto

Mio’s range of dashcam products, the new MiVue™ 7 series, feature highly sensitive components that enable them to capture, in great detail (1080p full HD at 60 FPS), any and all traffic events, even at night-time and in poorly lit environments. The MiVue™ 7 series also supports rear-camera recording, ensuring that all angles are covered. This not only allows drivers to document their journeys, but also promotes driving safety and is perfect for insurance purposes should the driver get into an accident that wasn’t his or her fault.

Mio also showcased their high-end drive recorders that are enhanced with Wi-Fi connectivity. A special feature of this technology is the G-sensor, which ensures that when a traffic event happens – such as an accident – the recorded data will automatically get backed up to the user’s smartphone.
